CHEMICAL ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST (CAS)

GENERAL INFO

Chemical Safety Assessment, Chemical Safety Report and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) are carried out and prepared by Chemical Assessment Specialist (CAS). This assessment provides sufficient control over the risks caused by manufactured or imported goods by producers or importers during the production phase or during their self usage and states amount of control of how much these mentioned risks could be assessed and documented by other parties involved in the supply chain.

Chemical Assessment Specialist evaluates the following and carries out the Chemical Safety Report in accordance with The Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.

TÜV Austria Personnel Certification Co.Ltd. has been recognized as a training constitution by the permission given by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on 9th February 2018.

NOTES

The following criteria must be met for those who wish to take the Chemical Assessment Specialist (CAS) Examination to participate:

  • They must be graduated from a bachelor's level department related to Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Sciences* of a Science/Science and Letters Faculty or an Engineering Faculty, or
  • They must have Master's or Doctorate Degree on Chemistry, or
  • They must have finished any bachelor's level department and worked for a minimum of 5 (five) years in a production, laboratory, quality control or management of chemicals related department.

* As an example to such departments, departments like; Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry Engineering may be taken into account. Other departments that may prove to significantly include Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Sciences related topics in their programs are also considered to be included within this scope.

Those who are graduated from another department that does not fall under this definition (ex: Mechanical Engineering, Department of Management etc.) must meet the 5 (five) year experience condition in the area of production, laboratory, quality control or management of chemicals.

This training program, given under the related regulation aims to; provide high level protection of human health and environment, encourage alternative methods intended for assessment of hazards of substances, set up administrative and tehcnical methods and essentials regarding registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals to increase competition and innovation.

In accordance with REACH (Regulation of Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), it is obligatory to carry out Chemical Safety Report and Chemical Safety Assessment for manufactured or imported substances and goods over 10 tons containing chemical substance concentration greater than %0.1 of their total weight.

Registration of substances produced in Turkey or imported to the country that remain inside the scope of REACH is done throught the online Chemical Registration System of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Brief reports for registrations are required in Turkish language. In addition to this, ministry officers have stated that comprehensive reports will be accepted in English.

Registration files of substances will be prepared by "Chemical Assessment Specialists".

Included inside the training/examination price are:

  • CAS Training Document
  • Participation Certificate at the end of training program
  • TÜRKAK certified Chemical Assessment Specialist Certificate to those who successfully pass the exam

  • The necessary documents are; application form, document usage agreement, diplomaed (or a graduation certificate) and ID photocopy, bank receipt showing training and exam payment
  • Additional Note:For those who are graduated from nonrelated departments from a university and have a minimum of 5 year work experience in a production, laboratory, quality control or management of chemicals department are required to bring a signed working paper provided by their company.
